The Robertsdale Golden Bears will challenge the Gulf Shores Dolphins at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
On Monday, Robertsdale needed a bit of extra time to put away Charles Henderson. They had just enough and edged out the Trojans 6-5. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Golden Bears have posted since February 28th.

Hayden Phillips made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. What's more, he gave up only one walk, the fewest he's had since back in February. He was also big at the plate, scoring two runs while going 1-for-3. He is becoming a predictor of Robertsdale's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 5-9 when he doesn't).
In other batting news, Logan Gregson and Gavin Grider did most of the damage at the plate: Gregson scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 1-for-2, while Grider scored a run while going 1-for-1. The dominant performance gave Gregson a new career-high in stolen bases.
Meanwhile, Gulf Shores sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 9-7 win over White House-Heritage on Tuesday.
The team relied heavily on Nate Perez, who scored two runs and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Price Stephens, who went 3-for-4 with two triples and two RBI.
Gulf Shores was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .484. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as White House-Heritage only posted a batting average of .308.
The victory made it two in a row for Robertsdale and bumps their season record up to 8-9. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.0 runs over those games. As for Gulf Shores, they now have a winning record of 9-8.
Gulf Shores' hitters will have their work cut out for them on Thursday. Robertsdale has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.8 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Gulf Shores, though, as they've been averaging only 4.1 strikeouts. Will Robertsdale keep running through batters, or will Gulf Shores buck the trend?
Robertsdale might still be hurting after the 7-1 loss they got from Gulf Shores in their previous meeting back in April of 2022. Can Robertsdale avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
