Even though the Wiggins Tigers have not done well against the Haxtun Fightin' Bulldogs recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. Wiggins took their match on the road with ease, bagging a 49-20 victory over Haxtun. That looming 49-20 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Wiggins yet this season.
Kennedy Kerr was her usual excellent self, scoring 19 points along with four steals. The game was her fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Riley Hunt, who scored 13 points along with eight rebounds.
Haxtun's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jayleigh Bullard, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
The victory makes it two in a row for Wiggins and bumps their season record up to 2-2. As for Haxtun, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-4.
Wiggins is on the road again on Friday and play against Sedgwick County at 7:00 p.m. on December 15th. Sedgwick County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Wiggins in Colorado (Sedgwick County is ranked 17th, while Wiggins is ranked 147th). Haxtun won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Holyoke at 12:00 p.m. on December 15th. Hopefully Holyoke focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 on Thursday.
