Apollo Ridge had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Leechburg Blue Devils a 1-0 shutout on Tuesday. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 12-2 loss the last time these two teams met.

Apollo Ridge saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gage Wingard, who went 1-for-2 with one double and one RBI.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Apollo Ridge will face off against Burrell at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The last four games Apollo Ridge has played (dating back to last season) have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Leechburg, they will take on Sewickley Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
