Basketball Recap: Isaiah Davis' Big Game Can't Quite Lead Victory Baptist over Bible Baptist Christian

Victory Baptist lost against Bible Baptist Christian last Tuesday and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Victory Baptist Warrior fell 71-58 to the Bible Baptist Christian Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Warrior can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while the Eagles are ranked 201st).

Several Warrior players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Isaiah Davis, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 19 points. Davis is trending in the right direction considering he's improved his point production for three straight games. Dontaye Bell was another key player, going 6 for 11 on his way to 13 points and six rebounds.

Even though they lost, Victory Baptist was working as a unit and finished the game with 17 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Bible Baptist Christian to victory, but perhaps none more so than Trent Hamilton, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 15 points in addition to six boards and three steals. Hamilton is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Logan Hamilton, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 11 boards.

Victory Baptist's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Bible Baptist Christian, their win was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Victory Baptist and New Creation Christian Academy will compete for holiday cheer at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Bible Baptist Christian, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Appling Christian Academy at 6:15 p.m. on January 10, 2025.
