If the Bureau Valley Storm were feeling good off their 62-19 takedown of the Fulton Steamers last Saturday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Bureau Valley ended up on the wrong side of a tough 55-33 walloping at the hands of Annawan on Thursday. Bureau Valley has struggled against Annawan recently, as their contest on Thursday was their sixth consecutive lost matchup.
Several Storm players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Taylor Neuhalfen, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds. The game was Neuhalfen's third in a row with at least ten points. Kate Stoller was another key contributor, scoring nine points.
Bureau Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Annawan, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 10-2.
Bureau Valley will head out on the road to face off against Amboy at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Annawan will be home for the holidays to greet Alleman at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Illinois (Alleman is ranked 36th, while Annawan is ranked 50th).
