Trinity (Washington, Pa.) scored 30 points in the second quarter to secure a big 50-14 victory over Laurel Highlands (Uniontown, Pa.) on Saturday.
The Hillers scored on a rushing touchdown, a
Corey Hunsberger touchdown run, a touchdown catch by
Brandon McGavitt and a defensive touchdown in the quarter.
After taking the lead on a touchdown pass by
Don McWreath to Hunsberger in the first quarter, Trinity led 44-7 at the half.
Hunsberger stood out for THS in the win. The senior wide receiver ran for one touchdown and caught one touchdown. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for the Washington school, which was coming off a 40-7 defeat at the hands of Thomas Jefferson in its previous game.
Laurel Highlands (0-5) will play a WPIAL AAA Big Nine game against Thomas Jefferson next week, while Trinity (3-2) will take on Belle Vernon also in a WPIAL AAA Big Nine game.
