Fredericksburg is on a seven-game streak of home wins, while Wimberley is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Billies will host the Texans at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Fredericksburg is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Fredericksburg proved they can win big on Friday (they won by 18) and on Tuesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Davenport 9-8. The Billies haven't had any issues with the Wolves recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Makenna Duecker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched seven innings while giving up three earned (and five unearned) runs off eight hits. Duecker was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addison Schoessow, who went 4-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Ava Stuewe, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Fredericksburg hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least four batters in seven consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Wimberley got themselves on the board against Bandera on Tuesday, but Bandera never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the BULLDOGS.
Charlotte Woodward looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Ella P was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Emorie G was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-4.
Wimberley is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a massive bump to their 10-14 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs on average over those games. As for Fredericksburg, their win bumped their record up to 16-9.
Both Fredericksburg and Wimberley just can't seem to miss. The Billies have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 8.7 hits per game. However, it's not like Wimberley struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance. Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
