Oakwood has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will take on the Penelope Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakwood will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 1553rd, while Penelope is ranked 688th).
Last Friday, Oakwood came up short against Bynum and fell 44-33. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Oakwood in their matchups with Bynum: they've now lost three in a row.
Meanwhile, Penelope came tearing into Friday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 26.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They managed a 57-52 victory over Milford.
Penelope's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Dylan Lednicky, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds, and Jayden Schwarz, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 14 rebounds. Schwarz continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played.
Oakwood bumped their record down to 8-14 with that defeat, which was their third straight at home. As for Penelope, their victory bumped their record up to 20-2.
Oakwood came up short against Penelope in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, falling 35-25. Can Oakwood avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
