The Legacy Lightning pushed their score all the way to 56 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell 65-56 to Cherokee Trail. Legacy was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Cherokee Trail apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in November of 2022.
Legacy's lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Nathan Spradling, who scored 17 points along with 3 steals. Brandon Domsch was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
Legacy struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only two offensive rebounds. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Cherokee Trail pulled down 12.
Cherokee Trail can attribute much of their success to Amari Chandler, who scored 18 points along with 6 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Braylen Thomas, who scored 15 points along with 5 rebounds.
Legacy's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Cherokee Trail, their win bumped their record up to 1-0.
Legacy will head out on the road to face off against Arvada West at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Hopefully Arvada West focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. As for Cherokee Trail, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Monarch at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Monarch focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 on Monday.
