Bourne hasn't had much luck against Case recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Canalmen will be playing in front of their home fans against the Cardinals at 11:00 a.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Bourne is headed into Monday's match looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their eighth straight game dating back to last season on Friday. They lost 17-10 to Old Colony RVT. On the bright side, the ten- run effort marked the Canalmen's highest-scoring contest to date.
Michaela Muldoon made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and got on base in all six of her plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and one double. Bridget Curran was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Case, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Middleborough with a sharp 13-1 win on Friday. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won three games by 12 runs or more so far this season.
Lila Alvarez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-4 with three RBI.
In other batting news, Nicole Rebelo was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Makayla Garcia, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run and three RBI.
Case kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Case's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.7 runs over those games. As for Bourne, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-7.
Bourne couldn't quite get it done against Case in their previous matchup back in May of 2024 as they fell 5-1. Can the Canalmen avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
