Providence hasn't had much luck against West Washington recently, but that could start to change on Wednesday. The Pioneers will welcome the Senators at 6:00 p.m.
Providence came up short against North Harrison on Monday, falling 11-2. The Pioneers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Providence saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Sydney Laslie (2027), who went 2-for-4 with one run.
Meanwhile, West Washington got themselves on the board against Mitchell on Monday, but Mitchell never followed suit. They were the clear victors by a 13-0 margin over the Bluejackets. The Senators might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by six runs or more this season.
Emery Haub was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Meredith Deaton, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April. Emma Schmidt was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
Providence's defeat dropped their record down to 10-6. As for West Washington, their victory bumped their record up to 13-4.
West Washington's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Wednesday. Providence has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.1 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for West Washington, though, as they've been averaging only 3.9 strikeouts. Will Providence keep running through batters, or will the Senators buck the trend?
