Basketball Game Preview: Simmons Blue Devils vs. O'Bannon Greenwaves

Simmons and O'Bannon are an even 5-5 against one another since January of 2019, but not for long. The Blue Devils are taking a road trip to take on the Greenwaves at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Simmons can't be too happy about their upcoming road matchup considering what happened when they opened their season away from home on Saturday. They were outmatched by Greenwood and fell 71-30. The loss continues a trend for the Blue Devils in their meetings with the Bulldogs: they've now lost three in a row.

Meanwhile, O'Bannon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Thursday as they fell 32-28 to West Bolivar.

Simmons will have to keep a close watch on Kentravion Castion and Jeremiah Piear, a pair of players who had a big impact on O'Bannon's prior game. Castion posted 15 points and five rebounds, while Piear put up four points and 12 boards. Castion has been hot recently, having also posted two or more steals the last three times he's played.

Simmons came up short against O'Bannon when the teams last played back in December of 2024, falling 72-60. Can the Blue Devils avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
