After losing to the Hanover Hornets the last time they met, the Cripple Creek-Victor Pioneers decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Cripple Creek-Victor strolled past Hanover with points to spare on Thursday, taking the game 61-46.
Cripple Creek-Victor's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Myles Durham led the charge by scoring 21 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Tony Woods, who scored 14 points.
Several Hornets players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Tyler Decker, who scored 20 points along with six rebounds and three steals. That was a full 43.5% of Hanover's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Junior Diaz was another key contributor, dropping a double-double on 11 points and 13 rebounds.
Cripple Creek-Victor's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Hanover, their loss dropped their record down to 3-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cripple Creek-Victor will take on Creede at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday. Allowing an average of 51.2 points per game, Creede has struggled on the defensive end, but that doesn't have to be the case in this game. As for Hanover, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Kiowa at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Kiowa and Hanover are at an even 3-3 over their past six head-to-heads.
