The Jennings County Panthers will head out on the road to take on the Columbus East Olympians at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Jennings County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 478 points over their last seven matches.
Jennings County proved they can win big two weeks ago (they won by 26) but on Thursday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past New Albany 58-56. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
It was another big night for Carter Kent, who scored 32 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. That makes it six consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Jennings County's points. Dorian Hacker was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Columbus East scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They secured a 73-68 W over Silver Creek. The victory was a breath of fresh air for Columbus East as it put an end to their seven-game losing streak.
The victory got Jennings County back to even at 9-9. As for Columbus East, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-14.
Jennings County took their win against Columbus East when the teams last played back in February of 2023 by a conclusive 74-48. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Columbus East's Ben Sylva, who scored 18 points along with eight rebounds.
