Basketball Game Preview: Arapahoe Warriors vs. Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons

The Arapahoe Warriors and the Wilcox-Hildreth Falcons will compete for holiday cheer at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Arapahoe is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 51 points per game this season.

Wilcox-Hildreth is hoping to do what Northern Valley couldn't on Tuesday: put an end to Arapahoe's winning streak, which now stands at three games. Arapahoe blew past Northern Valley 68-21. The Warriors have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three games by 23 points or more this season.

Arapahoe can attribute much of their success to Clara Hilker, who almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, and Suttyn Shafer, who went 6 of 14 on her way to 15 points and five steals. That's the most points Hilker has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryleigh Tidyman, who posted four points and four steals.

Arapahoe smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in six consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, Wilcox-Hildreth was able to grind out a solid win over Red Cloud on Tuesday, taking the game 42-32.

Wilcox-Hildreth's win came from a few key players Arapahoe will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Cara Bunger, who put up 11 points. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Bunger, who had 11 points.

Arapahoe's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Wilcox-Hildreth, they now have a winning record of 3-2.
