The Harlingen South Hawks will face off against the Porter Cowboys at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Harlingen South 1.4, Porter 3.1) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Harlingen South is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Donna get on the board and left with a 19-0 victory on Friday. Considering the Hawks have won 12 matches by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Kailee Silva was a major factor no matter where she played. She pitched 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four RBI and one double. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024.

In other batting news, Jaylin Mata was incredible, scoring four runs and stealing a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Kara Jensen was another key player, scoring four runs while going 4-for-4.
Harlingen South was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .692. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Porter's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They lost 9-3 to Weslaco East.
Mia Sosa spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and four unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, Gabby Sosa made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-4 with one home run, three stolen bases, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Miley Cortez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4.
Harlingen South is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-5 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.7 runs over those games. As for Porter, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Harlingen South has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 10.9 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Porter struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 10.3 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Harlingen South took their victory against Porter in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 14-0 score. Do the Hawks have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Cowboys turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
