Baseball Recap: Dansville Wins Going Away Against Hornell

Dansville barely beat Hornell the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Mustangs were the clear victors by an 11-5 margin over the Red Raiders on Monday. Considering the Mustangs have won four matches by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Jake Kreiley made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. Kreiley was also solid in the batter's box, earning one run and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mark Sick, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, he posted two hits, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. Dawsyn Mistretta was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

Dansville always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.

Dansville's win was their first in the league, bumping their league record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-2. As for Hornell, they dropped their record down to 0-5 with the defeat, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season.

Coming up, Dansville will head out to square off against Keshequa at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Indians will roll in looking for their fifth straight victory, something the Mustangs surely won't give up without a fight. As for Hornell, they will face off against Palmyra-Macedon at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
