New Hope Academy pushed their score all the way to 63 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 75-63 hit to the loss column at the hands of St. Andrew's Episcopal. While losing is never fun, New Hope Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Lions are ranked third).
Several New Hope Academy players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Haki Muhammad, who scored 22 points along with six rebounds. Muhammad is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 19 or more in the last three games he's played. Jalen Martinez was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds.
New Hope Academy's loss was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 15-18. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 15-6.
New Hope Academy will be playing at home against the at 7:15 p.m. on Tuesday. As for St. Andrew's Episcopal, they and the Quakers will face off at 5:45 p.m. on February 6th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Sidwell Friends has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 775 points over their last 12 matches.
