Softball Recap: Copper Hills Has No Trouble Against Corner Canyon

Copper Hills got themselves on the board against Corner Canyon on Thursday, but Corner Canyon never followed suit. They put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 15-0 victory. The Grizzlies might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven matchups by eight runs or more this season.

Bryton Dawes made a splash no matter where she played. She pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Dulce-Liliani Moreno, who went 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. That's the most runs she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Clarissa Hotton, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI.

Copper Hills always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .720. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Copper Hills now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Corner Canyon, they dropped their record down to 3-17 with the loss, which was their third straight on the road.

Coming up, Copper Hills will square off against Mountain Ridge at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Sentinels will roll in looking for their tenth straight win, something the Grizzlies surely won't give up without a fight. As for Corner Canyon, they will take on Kearns at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
