The Lyons Lions's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 36-35 to Downers Grove North. The match was a 18-18 toss-up at halftime, but Lyons was outscored by Downers Grove North in the second.
Downers Grove North was led to victory by Ann Stephens and Campbell Thulin. Stephens scored nine points along with seven rebounds, while Thulin scored 15 points along with three steals. Thulin continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played.
Lyons has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 13-10 record this season. As for Downers Grove North, the victory was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 20-3.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lyons and Proviso West will face off at 2:00 p.m. on January 20th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Downers Grove North won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Conant at 7:30 p.m. on January 17th. Conant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Illinois Rankings (they are ranked 329th, while Downers Grove North is ranked 28th).
