There's no place like home for Monticello, who bounced back after a  loss on the road  on Tuesday. They blew past the Orange County Fighting Hornets 8-2 on Thursday. The Mustangs not only won  on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win  since March 17th (when they won  24-2).
Monticello got a great performance from  Brayden Nash as he  tossed six innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   three  hits.
 On the hitting side,  Owen Sexton was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three  RBI and one  stolen base. Those  two  hits gave  him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was  Bryson Jackson, who  went 2-for-3 with two  runs, one  stolen base,  and one  double.
Monticello has  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five matches. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-7 record  this season. The  victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.8 runs on average over those games. As for Orange County,  with the  defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 4-7.
 Looking ahead, Monticello will head out to  face off against Fluvanna County  at 6:30  p.m.  on Tuesday. As for Orange County, they will host Riverbend  at 6:00  p.m.  on Friday. The Bears will roll in looking for their  ninth straight  win, something the Fighting Hornets surely won't give up without a fight.
