Basketball Recap: Mayfield's Victory on Wednesday Extends Winning Streak to Two

Mekeel Christian Academy came into Wednesday's contest looking for another win against Mayfield, but Brianna Iannuzzi wouldn't allow it. The Mayfield Panthers were the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over the Mekeel Christian Academy Lions on Wednesday thanks in part to Iannuzzi, who posted 30 points along with five boards and four steals. Her evening made it three games in a row in which she has scored at least ten points.

Jamie Danforth was another key player, putting up six points and 13 rebounds. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in rebounds.

The victory made it two in a row for Mayfield and bumps their season record up to 2-1. As for Mekeel Christian Academy, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-4.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Mayfield will head out to square off against Oppenheim-Ephratah at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Mekeel Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to take on Berlin/New Lebanon at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
