The Edgewater Eagles put another one in the bag on Friday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 61-54 win over Winter Park. Given Edgewater's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked seventh, while Winter Park is ranked 303rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Edgewater's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Donovan Williams Jr. led the charge by scoring 15 points along with five steals. The game was Williams Jr.'s fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Myles Mayfield, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds and three blocks.
Edgewater's victory bumped their record up to 4-0. As for Winter Park, their loss dropped their record down to 2-1.
Edgewater won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Dr. Phillips at 8:00 p.m. on December 2nd. Dr. Phillips knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three games -- so hopefully Edgewater likes a good challenge. Winter Park won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Seminole at 6:00 p.m. on December 2nd. One thing working in Seminole's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
