The Oakleaf Knights had to endure a six-game losing streak dating back to last season, but that streak is no more. They enjoyed a cozy 47-30 win over Bartram Trail on Thursday. Oakleaf's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Oakleaf to victory, but perhaps none more so than Makiya Trusel, who scored 14 points. Trusel set a new season high mark in points with 14. The team also got some help courtesy of Shelby Gaines, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Despite the defeat, Bartram Trail saw an underclassman step up: Asiana McCreary scored 12 points.
Even though they lost, Bartram Trail were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Oakleaf's victory bumped their record up to 1-5. As for Bartram Trail, their loss was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season, which bumped their record down to 2-4.
Oakleaf will head out on the road to face off against Nease at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Florida (Nease is ranked 286th, while Oakleaf is ranked 311th). As for Bartram Trail, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on St. Augustine at 7:00 p.m. on December 12th.
