Mid-Lakes recap October 29, 2013
Strafford added to the longest winning streak in Mid-Lakes this week by beating Ash Grove, 37-21. The victory was the ninth in a row for the team.
Marionville and North Callaway played the most contested game in the league this week, with Marionville eventually emerging with a 22-19 victory.
Jacob Wade made the biggest impact on defense this week as Strafford bested the Pirates. The 6-foot-4 senior grabbed 2 sacks.
Wade threw for 294 yards and 2 touchdowns. He was 22-33 with 1 interception.
Wade put up the best numbers in passing as Tim Hester's team defeated Ash Grove. Wade's favorite target this week was Dallas Hester, who caught 6 passes for 90 yards.
The Indians' Wade and Hester have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 6-4 quarterback Wade has thrown for 2,170 yards this season, while Hester has 52 catches for 901 yards. Doug Martin's team's Logan Allred leads the league in rushing yards with 1,793.
Strafford's Hester is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 99 receiving yards against Houston to hit that benchmark. He has recorded 52 catches for 901 yards this year.
At the moment, the Pirates are in second, while Stockton is in fifth.
The Indians made the biggest leap in the national rankings this week, rising to 3,278 from 3,689. The improvement was largely due to a 37-21 victory over Ash Grove last week.
