Deer Park is a perfect 6-0 against Pullman since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Stags will square off against the Greyhounds at 2:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Deer Park's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They blew past West Valley 12-0. The Stags haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Hailey Thompson made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. Thompson was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Kaylee Reiter was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double. That's the most runs she has posted since back in March. Elizabeth Meyers was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Deer Park was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .400. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .321 or higher in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pullman had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Saturday. Everything went their way against the Eagles as they made off with a 15-7 win.
Kinsey Rees spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six earned (and one unearned) runs on ten hits and racked up seven Ks.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Juliana Stewart, who went 2-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Taylore Wolfe, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.
Deer Park pushed their record up to 17-1 with the victory, which was their seventh straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 17.6 runs over those games. As for Pullman, their record is now 9-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Friday. Deer Park hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.1 home runs per game. However, it's not like Pullman struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.5 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Deer Park took their victory against Pullman in their previous meeting on April 1st by a conclusive 12-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Stags since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
