The Mayflower Eagles will challenge the Two Rivers Gators at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. Two Rivers took a loss in their last contest and will be looking to turn the tables on Mayflower, who comes in off a win.
Mayflower came out on top against Baptist Prep on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run seventh inning. Mayflower walked away with a 7-4 win over Baptist Prep. Mayflower hasn't had any issues with Baptist Prep recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.
Ruby Otts was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. Otts was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ryleigh Crockett, who went 2-for-4 with one home run and four RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Miranda Leslie, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Mayflower lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, after some red-hot attacks at the plate in their last four matchups, Two Rivers finally came back down to earth on Tuesday. They came up short against Harmony Grove, falling 13-0. The Gators' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Mayflower's win bumped their record up to 5-9. As for Two Rivers, their loss was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 5-6.
Everything went Mayflower's way against Two Rivers in their previous matchup back in April of 2022, as Mayflower made off with a 14-0 victory. Do the Eagles have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
