South Laurel has gone a perfect 3-0 against Pineville recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Cardinals will look to defend their home field against the Mountain Lions at 6:00 p.m. South Laurel will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Thursday, South Laurel made easy work of Mercer County and carried off a 15-4 win. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won 12 contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Kenzie Williams spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on seven hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in seven consecutive appearances.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: South Laurel kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in five consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Pineville fell victim to Clay County and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They fell just short of the Tigers by a score of 1-0.
Pineville also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Rachel Howard gave up a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up 15 Ks.
South Laurel pushed their record up to 15-4 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Pineville, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-6-1.
Pineville's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: South Laurel has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .479. It's a different story for Pineville, though, as they've only averaged .363. Will they be able to contain South Laurel's hitters?
South Laurel beat Pineville 5-0 in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Do the Cardinals have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Mountain Lions turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
