The Marianna Bulldogs waltzed into their match on Thursday with five straight wins but they left with six. They breezed by Crossroad Academy at home to the tune of 70-35. Marianna has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 23 points or more this season.
Tra'jan Spears continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 22 points along with four steals. He hasn't dropped below two steals for four straight games. Nikyan Harvey was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Despite the defeat, Crossroad Academy saw an underclassman step up: Jabari Boahen dropped a double-double on ten points and 13 rebounds. Boahen has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Myron Tennell, who scored nine points.
Marianna's victory was their 17th straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-2. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 22.65 points. As for Crossroad Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 11-6.
Marianna will square off against Graceville at 6:45 p.m. on Monday. Graceville has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 224 points over their last four matchups. As for Crossroad Academy, they will be playing at home against Munroe at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Munroe focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 30 on Thursday.
