The Sugar Creek Wildcats's game last Tuesday was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They claimed a resounding 89-30 victory over Apprentice Academy on the road. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Sugar Creek also won the last time the pair played back in January.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Sugar Creek to victory, but perhaps none more so than Aidan Gatewood, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah McCrey, who scored 19 points along with two steals.
When it comes to explaining why Apprentice Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Radear Watson. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with six rebounds and four steals. That was a full 66.7% of Apprentice Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ayden Eddington, who scored six points along with two steals.
Sugar Creek's victory bumped their record up to 14-10. As for Apprentice Academy, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-12.
Sugar Creek won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Garinger at 6:00 p.m. on February 9th. Garinger is coming into the game with ten straight defeats at home, meaning Sugar Creek will have to defend against a team hungry for a victory. Apprentice Academy will take on Piedmont Community Charter at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
