Winning is just a little bit easier when you nail five more threes than your opponent, a fact the Franklin County Wildcats proved on Thursday. They walked away with a 49-37 win over Shenandoah. The win made it back-to-back wins for Franklin County.
Nicole Mears was her usual excellent self, scoring 20 points along with nine rebounds and four blocks. The team also got some help courtesy of Madesyn Sunderhaus, who scored six points along with two steals.
Shenandoah's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Grace Lee, who scored 15 points along with four steals. Lee hasn't dropped below two steals for six straight games. Haley Hughes was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine rebounds and three steals.
Franklin County's win bumped their record up to 13-6. As for Shenandoah, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Franklin County will challenge Indianapolis Bishop Chatard at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Indianapolis Bishop Chatard focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 22 last Wednesday. As for Shenandoah, they will head out on the road to challenge Wapahani at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
