Cannon never got on the board in their matchup on Friday, but that sure wasn't the case in their game against Mallard Creek on Saturday. They blew past the Mavericks 12-3. Considering the Cougars' hitters had been struggling lately, the high-scoring outing was a much-needed turnaround.

Thomas Smith looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Mason Mierzwa, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, two doubles, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in February. The team also got some help courtesy of Reid Morgan, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

Cannon kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Cannon moved to 5-8 with that win, which also ended their six-game losing streak. As for Mallard Creek, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Cannon didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 6-4 loss against Ballantyne Ridge on the 15th. As for Mallard Creek, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next contest, a 7-2 defeat against Charlotte S on the 14th.
