Walkertown is 1-7 against Rockingham County since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolfpack will venture away from home to square off against the Cougars at 5:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Walkertown's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Reidsville with a sharp 16-0 win. The Wolfpack haven't had any issues with the Rams recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Rachel Roddy and Macy Miller made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, Roddy pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Miller pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. At bat, Roddy went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one run, while Miller got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Walkertown let Chloe Isaacs and Aliviah Bateman run wild. Isaacs went a perfect 3-for-3 with five RBI, two runs, and two doubles, while Bateman went a perfect 2-for-2 with two triples, four RBI, and two runs. That's the most doubles Isaacs has posted since back in March of 2025. Sadie Myers was another key player, getting on base in both of her plate appearances with two runs and one RBI.
Walkertown was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .818. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last matchup, Rockingham County made sure to put some runs up on the board against Bartlett Yancey on Friday. The Cougars blew past the Buccaneers 17-0. Give the Cougars' pitching crew some credit: that's the team's third straight shutout.
Ava Grace Pruitt and Ava Doss were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Pruitt pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Doss tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. At the plate, Pruitt went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI, while Doss went 2-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.
In other batting news, Rockingham County got a massive performance out of Chloe Furgurson, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, four RBI, and one run. Another player making a difference was Emma Rumbley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and two doubles.
Walkertown's record is now 19-6. As for Rockingham County, their record now sits at 12-4.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Walkertown has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .491. However, it's not like Rockingham County struggles in that department as they've averaged .458. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
