The Howard Huskies will head out on the road to face off against the Westside Seminoles at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Georgia (Howard is ranked 189th, while Westside is ranked 185th).
Howard fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back victories it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They strolled past West Laurens with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 35-21.
Among those leading the charge was Camareon (cam) taylor, who rushed for 102 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 148 yards and a touchdown on only 13 passes. Ethan Ellington was in the mix as well, providing Howard with two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Westside beat Baldwin 26-22 on Friday. The win was just what Westside needed coming off of a 48-21 defeat in their prior game.
Jessie Bell was the offensive standout of the contest as he rushed for 122 yards and three touchdowns. Bell is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last four games he's played.
Howard now has a winning record of 5-4. As for Westside, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 7-2.
Howard and Westside were almost perfectly matched up in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, but Howard suffered an agonizing 34-33 defeat. Can Howard avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
