After having lost a blowout in their previous game against North Fort Myers, the Island Coast Gators were happy to have found some success on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 77-61 victory over Naples Classical. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Island Coast's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from SirJoshua Anderson, who scored 18 points along with five rebounds and three blocks. That's the first time this season that Anderson scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Izaiah Bacchus, who scored 16 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Naples Classical lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Daniel Coldiron, who scored 22 points. Another player making a difference was Colman Gillen, who scored 18 points.
Island Coast is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-11 record this season. As for Naples Classical, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-13.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Island Coast's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Ida Baker at 7:30 p.m. on January 31st. As for Naples Classical, they won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Mason Classical Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 27th.
