Huron and Flat Rock are an even 5-5 against one another since May of 2022, but likely not for long. The Chiefs will head out to face off against the Rams at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Each of these teams will be battling to keep a four-game winning streak alive.
The home team had come away the winner the last four times Huron and Woodhaven had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Chiefs put the hurt on the Warriors with a sharp 14-6 win on Thursday. The result was nothing new for the Chiefs, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Madison Kuzara made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off eight hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in four consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 3-for-6 with four stolen bases and two runs.

In other batting news, Addison Ramsby was a standout: she went 3-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Sasha Pender, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs and one RBI.
Huron kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.4 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 matchups they've averaged 10.6.
Flat Rock came out on top against Jefferson on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run fifth inning. The Rams blew past the Bears 12-5. The Rams not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 6th (when they won 16-6).
Like Huron, Flat Rock also got a great game from a two-way player: Vanessa Neace. She struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off six hits (and not a single walk). Neace was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ashlin Woodman, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Sarah Giroux was another key player, going 2-for-5 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI.
Huron's record now sits at 9-6. As for Flat Rock, their record is now 13-10-1.
Huron skirted past Flat Rock 4-3 when the teams last played back in April. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chiefs since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
