After a string of five wins, the Cedar Ridge Fighting Red Wolves's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 39-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eastern Alamance. Cedar Ridge has not had much luck with Eastern Alamance recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
When it comes to explaining why Cedar Ridge lost, one person who can't be blamed is Amiyah Ware. Despite the final result, she scored 24 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. That was a full 68.6% of Cedar Ridge's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Eastern Alamance was led to victory by Ayanna Garner and Makayla Thompson. Garner scored ten points along with seven rebounds and three steals, while Thompson scored nine points along with 15 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Hester, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and two blocks.
Cedar Ridge's loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Eastern Alamance, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Cedar Ridge will head out on the road to take on Williams at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Williams focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Monday. As for Eastern Alamance, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Southern Alamance at 6:00 p.m.
