The Douglass Red Devils put another one in the bag on Saturday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 56-48 victory over Springdale. Given Douglass' advantage in MaxPreps's basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 13th in Tennessee, while Springdale is ranked 66th in Arkansas), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Douglass was led to victory by Taquez Butler and Jarmon Brittman. Butler scored 18 points, while Brittman scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds and 7 blocks. The match was Brittman's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Joshua Thompson was another key contributor, scoring 10 points along with 6 rebounds.
Douglass' victory bumped their record up to 12-0. As for Springdale, they have fallen quite a ways from their 20-9 record last season and are now at 2-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Douglass is on the road again on Monday and play against Lakeland Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on December 11th. As for Springdale, they will face off against Shawnee Mission Northwest at 8:00 p.m. on Saturday.
