The Bethany Community Wolves will head out on the road to take on the Wesleyan Christian Academy Trojans at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Bethany Community is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9.1 runs per game this season.
Bethany Community's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Carver with a sharp 20-0 victory. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Wolves.
Olivia Baker and Leah Denny did most of the damage at the plate: Baker scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances, while Denny scored three runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2. Rebecca Price also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
Bethany Community hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post two or more strikeouts.
Meanwhile, Wesleyan Christian Academy posted their closest win since March 8, 2024 on Friday. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past Metrolina Christian Academy 3-1. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last five times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Alexis Emery made a big impact no matter where she played. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in six consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-2.
Emery wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Juliana Abantohollans, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases Abantohollans has posted since back in February.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 5-6. As for Bethany Community, their record now sits at 7-5.
Wesleyan Christian Academy's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Bethany Community has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9 hits per game. It's a different story for Wesleyan Christian Academy, though, as they've been averaging 9.2 hits. Given Bethany Community's sizable advantage in that area, the Trojans will need to find a way to close that gap.
Bethany Community might still be hurting after the 13-7 loss they got from Wesleyan Christian Academy when the teams last played two weeks ago. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
