The Emery Spartans came tearing into Friday's game with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 31.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They skirted past Juab 56-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Emery also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2021.
Emery's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Wade Stilson, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds. Stilson hasn't dropped below two steals for seven straight games. Zack Tuttle was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Juab's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jay Rowley, who scored 12 points along with eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Owen Bailey, who scored 13 points.
Even though they lost, Juab were smashing the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Emery's win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.7 points per game. As for Juab, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
Emery will be home for the holidays to greet Delta at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Hopefully Delta focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Friday. As for Juab, they will head out on the road to face off against Payson at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Payson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Saturday.
