Jackson County put the hurt on Sequatchie County with a sharp 47-27 victory on Tuesday. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 26-5.
Jackson County's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Claire Williams led the charge by scoring 14 points along with eight rebounds. That makes it six consecutive games in which Williams has scored at least 25% of Jackson County's points. Erin Davidson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Jackson County has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season. As for Sequatchie County, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-6.
Jackson County won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Rhea County at 3:30 p.m. on December 20th. Rhea County presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Jackson County in Tennessee (Rhea County is ranked 28th, while Jackson County is ranked 145th). Sequatchie County will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Marion County at 6:00 a.m. on January 5, 2024.
