Baseball Game Preview: Alexander Central Cougars vs. Freedom Patriots

Alexander Central is a perfect 10-0 against Freedom since April of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. Alexander Central will be playing in front of their home fans against Freedom at 6:30 p.m. Alexander Central is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.7 runs per game this season.

Alexander Central barely beat Hibriten the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. Alexander Central put the hurt on Hibriten with a sharp 13-1 victory on Friday. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Panthers recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Alexander Central got a great performance from Dillion Church as he struck out six batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Church has become a key player for Alexander Central: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Sawyer Chapman-Mays was a standout: he scored four runs while going 2-for-4. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Graham Hoke, who went 2-for-4 with four RBI, two doubles, and one run.

Alexander Central kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are 4-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

Meanwhile, Freedom was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They lost 14-1 to Watauga.

Alexander Central now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Freedom, they now have a losing record of 6-7.

Alexander Central took their victory against Freedom in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 7-1. Does Alexander Central have another victory up their sleeve, or will Freedom turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
