Basketball Recap: Schuylkill Haven Extends Winning Streak to Four

Schuylkill Haven proved they can win big last Tuesday (they won by 20) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They had just enough and edged the Our Lady of Lourdes Regional Red Raiders out 52-50. The win was familiar territory for the Hurricanes who have now won four matches in a row.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Schuylkill Haven to victory, but perhaps none more so than Alan Evans, who went 8 of 17 on his way to 21 points and five boards. The game was Evans' ninth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Max Heim, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 16 rebounds.

Schuylkill Haven's victory bumped their record up to 10-11. As for Our Lady of Lourdes Regional, they have also been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-14 record this season.

Schuylkill Haven and Our Lady of Lourdes Regional could both be facing uphill battles in their next games considering their disadvantage in the MaxPreps Pennsylvania Rankings. Schuylkill Haven (ranked 478th) will meet Tri-Valley (ranked 235th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Similarly, Our Lady of Lourdes Regional will square off against Nativity BVM at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday down 370 places (640 vs. 270).
