The Highland Tech Rams will square off against the Pinnacle Classical Academy Eagles at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
Highland Tech is coming in off a wild two-game stretch: after soaring to 13 runs on Monday, they were much more limited against East Gaston on Wednesday. They lost 11-1 to the Warriors. The Rams haven't had much luck with the Warriors recently, as the team has come up short the last eight times they've met.
Highland Tech saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayson Lunsford, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, Pinnacle Classical Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Christian Family Academy on Thursday, taking the game 5-2. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Fire recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive win against them.
Pinnacle Classical Academy also got a great performance from Connor Heavner as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out 11 over five innings pitched.
On the hitting side, Zachary Houser was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI. Pinnacle Classical Academy is 3-1 when Houser posts three or more hits, but 6-8 otherwise. Jake McNeilly was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
The victory got Pinnacle Classical Academy back to even at 9-9. As for Highland Tech, their loss dropped their record down to 8-14.
Highland Tech got the 'W' when the teams last played on Monday against Pinnacle Classical Academy by a conclusive 13-3 score. Will the Rams repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
