Northwestern Lehigh and Notre Dame-Green Pond are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2017, but likely not for long. The Tigers will take on the Crusaders at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northwestern Lehigh will roll into the match after a wild two-game stretch: they didn't score any runs on Tuesday, then bounced right back against Palmerton on Friday. The Tigers put the hurt on the Blue Bombers with a sharp 13-4 win. The Tigers haven't had any issues with the Blue Bombers recently, as the game was their fifth consecutive victory against them.
Cannon Fitch was a standout: he scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in four of his six plate appearances. That's the most runs he has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Eli Zimmerman, who scored three runs and stole four bases while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances.
Northwestern Lehigh always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .521. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Palmerton only posted an OBP of .273.
Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Notre Dame-Green Pond sidestepped Saucon Valley for a 6-4 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Crusaders.
Austin Casal was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run. That home run was his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Silvius, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Northwestern Lehigh's victory was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-1. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.0 runs over those games. As for Notre Dame-Green Pond, their record is now 5-3.
Notre Dame-Green Pond's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Tuesday. Northwestern Lehigh has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 6.6 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Notre Dame-Green Pond, though, as they've been averaging only 4 strikeouts. Will Northwestern Lehigh keep running through batters, or will the Crusaders buck the trend?
