Cuyahoga Heights has been on the road for three straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Brooklyn Hurricanes at 6:00 p.m. Cuyahoga Heights will be strutting in after a win while Brooklyn will be coming in after a defeat.
On Friday, Cuyahoga Heights didn't have too much trouble with Fairview on the road as they won 51-36. Given Cuyahoga Heights' advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 215th, while Fairview is ranked 544th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Brooklyn's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Lutheran West, falling 67-37. Brooklyn was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 53-23.
Ashlyn Dyson put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 17 points along with six rebounds and six steals. She scored a full 45.9% of Brooklyn's points, the fifth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Rayanna Cogburn, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Cuyahoga Heights' win bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Brooklyn, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-4.
Cuyahoga Heights was able to grind out a solid win over Brooklyn when the teams last played back in February, winning 47-39. Does Cuyahoga Heights have another victory up their sleeve, or will Brooklyn turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
