This season hasn't been kind to The Central Cougars, who are still winless after their eighth contest. They had to suffer through a rough 49-0 loss at the hands of Crossett. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Central in their matchups with Crossett: they've now lost five in a row.
Max Brooks continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Crossett, throwing for 247 yards and five touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes, and also punching in a touchdown on the ground. Another big playmaker for Crossett was Taylin Paskel, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Central's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 0-8. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.8 points per game. As for Crossett, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-3.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Central will square off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Warren's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season. As for Crossett, they will head out on the road to face off against Dumas at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
