Basketball Recap: North Forney Comes Up Short

It was a Battle of the Birds when North Forney duked it out withRockwall-Heath on Tuesday. The North Forney Falcons lost 81-61 to the Rockwall-Heath Hawks. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (56), the Falcons still had to take the loss.

Despite the loss, North Forney still got an impressive performance from Zach Thompson, who went 13 of 20 on his way to 32 points and seven boards. Thompson's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Jaiden Johnson, who posted ten points.

Rockwall-Heath had a senior duo take command as Kaleb Turner-Dicus dropped a double-double on 20 points and 13 rebounds and Hadrian Reitsma went 6 for 11 en route to 19 points along with five boards and three steals. The dominant performance also gave Reitsma a new career-high in assists (four). Isaac Yacob was another key player, putting up 12 points and three steals.

North Forney dropped their record down to 12-17 with the loss, which was their sixth straight on the road. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for Rockwall-Heath, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-6 record this season.

Coincidentally, North Forney and Rockwall-Heath will both be playing Royse City the next time they take the court. Rockwall-Heath will head out to face Royse City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, while North Forney will host them at 7:00 p.m. on January 28th.
