Baseball Recap: Gloucester County Christian Triumphs

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Gloucester County Christian ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against The Pilgrim Academy Pioneers by a score of 8-4. The game was the first time the Conquerors have beaten the Pioneers on their field since April 18, 2024.

David Dellarova made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 12 batters over eight innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. He is becoming a predictor of Gloucester County Christian's success: when he posts at least eight strikeouts the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't). Dellarova was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, one run, and one RBI. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Caleb Brewster, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave him a new career-high. Jackie George was another key player, going 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Gloucester County Christian kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. That's the most hits they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for Gloucester County Christian and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games.
