The Nixon Mustangs will venture away from home to take on the Carroll Tigers at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Nixon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.5 runs per game this season.
On Friday, Nixon earned an 11-7 win over Juarez-Lincoln. The Mustangs haven't had any issues with the Huskies recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.
Giulia Garza made a splash no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Garza was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Kivana Hernandez and Delaney Guevara did most of the damage at the plate: Hernandez went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI, while Guevara got on base in three of her five plate appearances with three runs and one stolen base. Hernandez has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Emily Escamilla, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Carroll came out on top against Ray on Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive 11-run third inning. The Tigers never let the Texans get on the board and left with a 16-0 win. Considering the Tigers have won 17 contests by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Nixon, Carroll also got a great game from a two-way player: Isabella Montalvo. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Montalvo was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs. That's the most runs she has posted since back in February.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ameris Garcia, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February. Jaslyn Yzaguirre was another key player, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Carroll always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .654. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ray only posted an OBP of .308.
Carroll has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 24-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.8 runs over those games. As for Nixon, their record is now 18-11.
